About Antonia

Dr Antonia San José Cáceres is a Spanish psychologist, trained in clinical psychology by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain). Antonia worked for many years in educational settings, helping teachers, families, and doing 1:1 work with children with ASD and high support needs. She then completed her PhD in King’s College London studying the cognitive abilities of this population, and has been working as a neuropsychologist on several research projects in different institutions since then. Antonia currently collaborates with clinical work both in UK and Spain.


Antonia has primarily worked with children with ASD and Intellectual disabilities, but her experience covers the whole spectrum and ages. Her neuropsychology experience covers from the more basic psychology grounds to translational approaches and clinical trials. As a clinician, Antonia was trained as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), but has ample experience with other techniques and uses them always considering the individual’s level of skills and functioning level. Antonia is experienced on the diagnosis of autism using tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), the Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI), and the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) amongst others. She has been trained and used support in the classroom such as PECS, TEACCH, Intensive Interaction, ABA for ASD with ID, Multisensory environments, amongst others.


Qualifications

Antonia is a registered member of the Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos de Madrid, and holds the following qualifications: BSc (hons) Psychology, and PhD in Cognitive Psychology.
