Speech & Language Therapist

Alison Montgomery is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who gained her professional training at City University in 2002. Since this time, she has been working with children/young people with Autism/Learning/Communication and other complex needs across a range of different NHS Trusts in London.

My Story

Background

Alison graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist in 2002 (City University London - PG Dip) and completed an MSc in Human Communication in 2006,( following a small research study into the early communication skills of non-verbal autistic children.)


Alison is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).


Experience

Alison has been working with neurodiverse individuals since she qualified. She has been working within multi-disciplinary teams in the NHS  to deliver assessment and therapeutic support around autism/social communication/learning profiles since 2007. Her current NHS work is in the Whittington NHS Trust in north London.


Alison has been part of the Effra team since 2018.


Alison is trained and experienced in a range of assessment and intervention models used with Autistic individuals including ADOS, ADI, TEACCH, Makaton, Intensive Interaction and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and SCERTS model.


Alison has been an NAS Early Bird Parent Programme tutor (parent education programme) since 2008.
