Ged is a dual registered learning disability and mental health nurse with over twenty years post registration experience across a range of NHS neurodevelopmental services including national and regional adult and children's autism diagnosis services.

My Story

Background


DipHE Nursing Studies (Learning disability) and BSc Hons Nursing studies (Mental health).


Ged is a member of the Royal College of Nursing and he is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council


Experience


Ged first worked in NHS learning disability services in 1997. He has been a registered nurse for 23 years. He currently works in the South West as an autism clinical nurse specialist in NHS regional children's autism diagnostic services, and adult forensic autism services. He is also active in clinic education, holding a teaching post within his local mental health NHS trust, and is an Oliver McGowan autism and learning disability trainer..


Ged has worked with autistic people since 1997. He has held clinical posts in adult and children's services for the National Autistic Society, the Maudsley Hospital, community learning disability services, Bristol Autism Spectrum Service (BASS), forensic, intellectual and neurodevelopmental disorders team (FIND).


Ged specialises in diagnostic assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions. He also has an interest in post diagnostic support for people following an autism diagnosis.
