Mary Betsakou

Specialist Occupational Therapist

With over 20 years of clinical experience in paediatric occupational therapy Mary Betsakou brings deep expertise in supporting children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions – including autism, ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and sensory processing challenges. After a decade of practice within the NHS community and specialist services in the UK, she has continued her clinical work for the past 6 years in Greece, in both private and public sector settings.

My Story

Background

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Greece and completed a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of Derby, UK, in 2011.

She is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK, and is a professional member of both the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and the Panhellenic Association of Ergotherapists.

 

Experience

Mary’s clinical interests include sensory processing, occupational performance and fostering independence in everyday activities. She has completed postgraduate training in Sensory Integration Therapy, eating and feeding interventions.

She is trained and experienced in the administration and scoring of the ADOS and ADI assessments, as well as assessment tools specific to the occupational therapy field.

She has worked with the Effra Clinic since 2013.

 

Other information

Ms Betsakou participated as a contributing writer in the development of “Occupational Therapy Tools for Autism Spectrum Disorder: A handbook with practical tips for therapists”, published in 2018.
