Learning Disability Nurse

Louisa is a Registered Learning Disability Nurse and has worked in mental health and neurodevelopmental services since qualifying in 2017. She has always been passionate about supporting autistic people and prior to training as a nurse worked in support services for both adults and children with autism and additional needs.

My Story

Background

Louisa has a BSc Hons Learning Disabilities Nursing (first class honours) degree, she is a member of the Royal College of Nursing and she is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.


Experience

Louisa works for the NHS and she has worked for Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Trust for the last 8 years. Louisa worked in support worker roles with individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions for a number of years prior to training as a nurse. Since qualifying she has worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a specialist autism assessment service for the past 7 years. She is trained and experienced in both ADOS and ADI-R assessments as well as conducting clinical interviews and leading complex diagnostic assessments in her NHS role. Louisa has worked with the Effra Clinic since 2024.
