Background

Dr Robertson began his medical training in general medicine during part of which he worked for six months as a psychiatric SHO.  He realised that psychiatry was where he should be and joined the St George’s Hospital Psychiatry training scheme as a junior psychiatrist. His higher training was as a Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry (now the Institute of Psychiatry Psychology and Neuroscience) where, in addition to research, he qualified in general and developmental psychiatry.

Dr Robertson is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and on the specialist register of the General Medical Council.

Experience

As a senior clinician Dr Robertson has worked in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders for over 20 years. He has worked as a consultant on the National Autism Unit and led the expansion and development of National ADHD and Autism outpatient services in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust NHS Foundation Trust. For several years he was Clinical Director of the Behavioural and Developmental Clinical Academic Group.

Dr Robertson has been Programme Director for the higher training scheme in psychiatry of learning disability, and maintains a keen interest in research and the training of the next generation of psychiatrists, especially in the field of neurodevelopmental conditions.

Dr Robertson has worked with the Effra Clinic since 2023.
